Amarante Abramovici
Filmmaker graduated in Film Direction at La Femis, Paris; Degree at Paris III University, Sorbonne. Selected to the Cannes Film Festival – Cinéfondation section, with Gaia (2004) and to Cinema du Réel, with Circa Me (2002). Co-directed A Cultura do Capital (2003), Travelling 70'-76' (2007), amongst others. Worked as assistant director for Paulo Rocha, Ricardo Leite and Saguenail and as assistant-editor for Boris Lehman. Collaborated also with other artists: Tiago Afonso, Ana Deus, Balla Prop, Yasmine Hugonnet, Alejandra Sol, João Costa, Igor Gandra, Joana Providência, João Alves, PAM, Ângelo de Sousa and Dan Graham (for a film presented in S. Paulo Biennial). Between 2005 and 2013 she collaborated with Serralves Museum. She programs film screenings in Oporto alternative cultural spaces, and colaborates with educational projects focused on Cinema (educational service of CCVF in Guimarães, educational service of festivals DocLisboa in 2015 and PortoPostDoc in 2016, Nove e Meia Cineclube Nómada desde 2015). Teaches Cinema and Vídeo, at FEUP (2008-11), at Universidade Lusófona do Porto (2012-13), at FAUP (2013 e 2016), and at ESAP (since 2017). PhD studies (FCT scholarship), with research on amateur films produced during the Portuguese Revolutionary Process. Participated in Estado Novo e a Imagem, parallel to the exhibition Além da Ucronia – histórias não vividas do 25 de Abril, org. Neo-Realism Museum and Révolution et cinéma: l’exemple portugais symposium, presented at the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art, Paris. Participated in several colective exhibition projects, with the video-installation A Colher (2010) for the shows All my independent women (cur. Carla Cruz, 2010) and Uma Questão de Género (cur. Raquel Guerra, 2013); with the art colective DAS PLAST V PJS in 2014 for the exhibition series A few reasons for a non dismissive art and with the work-in-progress piece Ensaio para uma conversa in 2016-17 in the exhibition series Correspondences, both curated by Eduarda Neves; with the piece setembro in the series Poste - video art (2016) and with oktober in the exhibition Caleidoscópio (2017), both curated by João Baeta; with the film mouvements para partos imaginados in the exhibition Semana Anti-Cristo - o apocalipse do corpo, org. RADAR, 2017. Throughout the year 2018, she pursued the series "months of the year" in the international exhibition cycle Hors-Série, curated by Eduarda Neves. She lives and works in Oporto.

Foi seleccionada para o Festival de Cinema de Cannes - secção Cinéfondation, com Gaia (2004) e para o Cinéma du Réel, com Circa Me (2002). Realizou filmes em colaboração, como A Cultura do Capital (2003) ou Travelling 70'-76' (2007). Foi assistente de realização de Paulo Rocha, Ricardo Leite e Saguenail e assistente de montagem de Boris Lehman. Colaborou ainda com outros criadores: Tiago Afonso, Ana Deus, Balla Prop, Yasmine Hugonnet, Alejandra Sol, João Costa, Igor Gandra, Joana Providência, João Alves, PAM, Ângelo de Sousa e Dan Graham (para um filme apresentado na Bienal de S. Paulo). Entre 2005 e 2013 colaborou com o Museu de Serralves. Programa sessões e ciclos de Cinema em espaços alternativos do Porto, e colabora em projetos de educativos com enfoque no Cinema (serviço educativo do CCVF em Guimarães, serviço educativo do DocLisboa 2015, serviço educativo do PortoPostDoc 2016, Nove e Meia Cineclube Nómada, desde 2015). Lecciona Cinema e Vídeo, na FEUP (2008-11), na Universidade Lusófona do Porto (2012-13), na FAUP (2013 e 2016), e na ESAP (desde 2017), sendo actualmente Doutoranda (bolsa FCT) com investigação no cinema amador produzido durante a revolução portuguesa. Participou em Estado Novo e a Imagem, paralelo à exposição Além da Ucronia – histórias não vividas do 25 de Abril, org. Museu do Neo-Realismo e Révolution et cinéma: l’exemple portugais, Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art, Paris. Participou em diversos projetos de exposições coletivas, com a instalação-vídeo A Colher (2010) para as exposições All my independent women (cur. Carla Cruz, 2010) e Uma Questão de Género (cur.
